BUFFET CLARINET
MODEL B12
INTERMEDIATE STUDENT Bb CLARINET

for sale

This clarinet is modeled after the Famous Buffet Grenadilla wood clarinets from the 'old day's'. When I worked for a 'full-line' music store thru the 1990's, we would periodically have a 'vintage' Buffet come thru and they never hung around long once serviced for re-sale. It is what most clarinet players asked for. That and Yamaha's.  This is a Buffet B12 clarinet, again, designed after the 'vintage' horns for the student / beginner and into the intermediate market. The Buffet B12 clarinets are made from ABS resin with an appearance and sound similar to that of genuine Grenadilla wood. These models are lightweight, strong and easy to clean perfect for even very young players. The Buffet B12 model has a very attractive and traditional design with nickel-plated body rings, straight key work and a traditional bell ring. The body is buffed to give the appearance of wood. The nickel silver key work is cold forged and induction soldered, providing greater stability, precision and quality. The B12 model is mounted with double fish skin pads which ensure excellent sealing.

 Features:
- Nickel plated keys, body rings & plated bell rings
- 65mm barrel
- 14.65mm poly-cylindrical bore
- Arched key cups (same as R-13 model)
- Staggered trill keys (same as R-13 model)
- Blue Needle Springs
- Adjustable 3-position thumb rest
- Ergonomic key design: Improved playing comfort like that of a professional clarinet
- Pointed needle springs for quality key action
- Undercut tone holes for improved tone quality and faster response
- High quality Double fish skin pads enables air tightness and are long lasting
- Blow-molded, hard shell case

Mouthpiece Assembly with Ligature, Cap and Mouthpiece

•           Cork Grease

•           Cleaning Swab

This clarinet retails for $925.00 (US).

ü  Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü  We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

ü  Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled.

ü pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed,

ü PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

ü Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed

ü Capstans burnished

ü  Rubber pinch rollers have been replaced with FRESH units

ü  Brand new drive belt installed,

ü Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

ü Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also.

ü Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

ü All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" and 10.5" tapes

ü Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

ü We adjusted the 'Blue Fluorescent' VU meters electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels.

ü Deck has been fully calibrated to factory manual specs, tested, and found to perform like new in all categories.

ü Both spindles in perfect alignment.

ü We also adjusted the reel table heights.

Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them.

ü  BOTH direction Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

ü Both internal speed pots adjusted to 100% accuracy on either speed independently (with pitch control zero'd) (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1000Hz).

ü Records at +/-0dB on High Bias Chrome tape.

ü This Pioneer RT-909 functions, plays, and records perfectly (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 12 hours).

Face is made of beautiful brushed aluminum with only one scuff (see photos above), and is in great condition and has never been rack mounted. Deck looks and works great!
____________________________
Looks GREAT & is "Ready-to-go"! The very sought after Pioneer RT-909 Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Will play / record stereo 1/4" tapes on reels 5, 7 & 10.5". This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25% of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through and all functions test great! Looks and sounds great too! Again, we have completely gone through it. It has been a few years since the last Pioneer RT-909 made it to the page (the second to last one went in my personal rack).

Pioneer RT-909 Features include:

- 4-Track / 2-Channel
- 5*" / 7*" / 10.5" Reel Capacity (*compatible with standard 4-Track / 2-Channel tape format)
- 3 Heads for instant monitoring of tape levels while recording
- Three Motors for trouble free performance (has a lot to do with it still being a viable piece of gear due to less rubber parts)
- Variable pitch control
- Auto-Reverse (when using tape with "auto-reverse" sensing foil) (Forward Recording, with forward & reverse playback)
- Dual speeds at 7.5 ips / 19cms and 3 3/4ips / 9.5 cms
- 'IC Logic' / Solenoid Drive Touch Transport control and 'Power Brake' tape handling
- Manual Reverse switches for changing direction with out flipping reels over

As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning, lubing, adjusting, demagnetizing and testing everything. Plays and records perfectly, AGAIN, records at 0dB down, yes, that's a ZERO! Both original feet / skids intact and perfect (these are commonly broken / missing)

Thick & solid brushed aluminum face plate in excellent condition and has never been 'racked' so no rack screw rack rash / marks! Case also in great condition.

These are great machines. I have had one myself for a few years. It's a blast to put on a BIG 10.5" reel with Pink Floyds, "Dark Side of the Moon". Even though it was designed for the consumer market, many were and are in use in schools, universities, libraries, clubs, etc. I worked at a Sheraton Inn in the late 70's and early 80's, and we had two in the DJ booth, that supplied foreground music from about 11AM till the DJ showed up at about 9PM, 7 days a week!

Includes a pdf / 'e-copy' download of the Pioneer RT-909 Owners manual, and if desired, a copy of the Pioneer RT-909 Service manual. Measures 19" wide x 11.5" deep x 13.5" high and weighs 46 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty.

(NAB Hubs, Reels & tape shown in photos not included. All are sometimes available separately depending on stock levels. Also unit does not have the 'voltage selector' shown in photos)

VINTAGE KENWOOD SPEAKERS
KENWOOD KL-888D / KL888D SPEAKERS
#...1030 / 1680
 Circa 1976-78
 Made in Japan
for sale
Classic lattice grill, vintage & large Kenwood KL-888D stereo speakers. 5-Way, 6-Speaker / Driver, Bass Reflex cabinet design. These are VERY efficient speakers with above average tone balance for late '70's speakers. Plenty of top end that can be filtered / tailored to your tastes with built-in attenuator or external EQ / tone control. Also HUGE & tight low end, likely due to the "Air-Suspension" cabinet design.
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. Speakers were entirely disassembled. Crossover components and internal circuit boards were inspected for any possible 'sympathetic' component vibrations. Attenuators were removed and cleaned for static free operation. Our tech has completely tested all drivers, then re-assembled with their original and adequate gasketing material under all driver frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies, and tested with both recorded material, PN and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Following, of course our normal barrage of 'pink noise' and an AF sweep from 3k down to 20Hz, our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', TLC 'Fan Mail', Allison Kraus and Union Station, Nickelback, a digital recording of a cathedral pipe organ, our 'Usher Speaker' demo CD (no not that Usher), 'Friday Night in San Francisco', with Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin and Paco DeLucia, Nickel Creek's Why Should the Fire Die, Jennifer Warnes, 'Famous Blue Raincoat', and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.
Incredible power handling characteristics. They are able to handle "power" better MUCH than your average speaker. Not simply referring to they're wattage rating, but just the way the perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them HARD with our test Hafler 500 watt power amp.

They also seem to be able to handle "power" better than your average speaker. Not simply referring to they're wattage rating, but just the way the perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. Among the top performers of the many speakers we have auditioned over the years. Unfortunately, these are missing their grills.

   Features:

   - 16" Non-deteriorating Cloth surround Woofer
   - 6.5" Non-deteriorating, paper surround Mid
   - 6.25" x 2" Horn, Upper Midrange with Compression increasing Phase Plug
 - Dual 2.25" Radial Horn Tweeters with Phase Plugs to increase compression
   - 1.25", Mylar Cone, Radial Super Tweeter
   - "Real" internal cross-over, not just a couple of "caps" on the mids and tweets
   - 3-position Hi frequency attenuators, using resistors, not failure prone Ni-Chrome wire, for custom tailoring sound to your tastes and listening room

  - Dual 2.25" Tuned ports for extended low end
   - Vented / cloth woofer dust cap for increasing low end efficiency

Specs:

 Frequency Response:
25-22,000Hz +- 3dB
 Efficiency:
98dB 1w @ 1m
 Nominal Impedance:

 Cross-over frequencies:
700Hz, 2kHz, 5kHz and 10kHz
 Recommended Nominal Power Amplifier range:
10-200 watts
 Recommended MAX Power rating:
150 watts

Very nice looking wood grain, vinyl wrap cabinets. Again, these speakers are sans grills. The cabinets are in excellent shape. Our speaker tech has completely checked these speakers inside and out. Loose inputs tightened. 2 corner joints re-glued / clamped. Attenuators removed and all positions cleaned. As with all of our speakers have completely tested these w/ AF sweep, PN and our standard barrage of test recordings looking for any acoustical anomalies, extraneous noises or sounds and to judge overall sound quality with our Hafler test power amp. All drivers are in perfect condition, work and sound fine!
Speakers look and sound GREAT! Huge, accurate and loud sound, but also very efficient at lower powers due to their 98dB rating! If you're looking for a great performing speaker at medium to higher volume applications, you will not be disappointed with these speakers. Each measures 26" tall x 17.5" wide x 12" deep and weighs 54 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard limited speaker warranty ( & excluding problems due to under / over powering)

PRE-OWNED POLK-AUDIO STEREO SPEAKERS
POLK AUDIO MONITOR SERIES 10

#...3055 & 3065
  Circa 1977-'82
MADE IN USA

SOLD 4/5/13
SHIPPED TO ARKANSAS
Fabulous sounding Polk Monitor 10 floor standing speakers. This is the model Polk designed to be the 'flagship' of their 'Monitor Series' line-up and to be a 'big brother' to their successful Monitor 7 speaker.
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. We have completely tested all drivers. When Polk speakers initially arrive to us, we can expect 50%-100% of the drivers to be 'locked' up, due to magnet shift. This will be virtually inevitable due to their original mfg process. We 'proactively' reinforce ALL functioning drivers with 'liquid metal' around the perimeter, on both sides of the motor structures. It's the only way to insure their immunity to 'magnet shift' either from normal use, or handling during shipping / transit / moving. After testing we then found one more woofer to have a slight VC rub on certain AF Gen frequencies and replaced it with another 'reinforced' unit. All drivers were reinstalled into cabinet with ‘added’ gasketing material under their frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies.
Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings. Following the technical restoration / tests, they were detailed cosmetically. Grill cloth attachment was improved. Wood grain, vinyl wrapped finish in decent shape with minor scratching / scuffing to the tops (see above photos). Much improved cosmetically and overall decent looking. These speakers are ready to go!

We auditioned this pair well. Following the above mentioned 'barrage', our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', Donald Fagens, 'Night Fly', '24K Gold Edition of Jennifer Waren's "Famous Blue Raincoat', TLC 'Fan Mail' (did 'sub-bass' note @ 1'25" & 1'35" SOLIDLY & PROMINENTLY, Allison Kraus and Union Station, Trapt's 'Headstrong', Don Williams' DDD version of 'Country Boy', a digital recording of a cathedral pipe organ, and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.

Beautiful sounding Polk Audio, 2-way / Pseudo 3-Way, "Monitor 10" bookshelf speakers. Very accurate sound reproduction. Great balance and detail oriented speakers. Great speaker for up to 'medium loud' volume levels. While these do get reasonably 'loud' and handle power WELL, they are more "detail" oriented speakers not "Power Pounding, Party" speakers (yes they get loud, but that's not their "forte"). As we alluded to earlier, the bass is huge, solid and deep at the same time. Nice 'Wall of Sound'. Just great 'all around' speakers for most listening situations and systems.

 Features:

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

- Pseudo 3-Way, Passive Radiator design
- 10" Damped passive radiator for extended low end
- Dual 6.5" 'Mid-Bass' drivers
- Butyl rubber surrounds throughout
- 1" Soft-dome, Poly tweeter (Polk SL-2000)
- Real Crossover (not just a filter cap)
- Utilize 3-way binding post inputs

  Original Polk Monitor 10 Specifications:

- Overall Freq Range:
25-26kHz
- System Impedance: 8 Ohms
- Sensitivity:
89 dB
- Recommended amp range:
20 to 250 watts (best with the lower end)

These speakers are in great shape 'technically' and decent shape cosmetically. Again, as stated earlier, our speaker tech has completely refurbished them, then they were tested them including sweeping them with an audio generator looking for any acoustical anomalies or extraneous noises or sounds. Also tested with our extensive CD library of "audiophile" test CD's. They work and sound great! Butyl Rubber surrounds on 6.5" woofers & 10" passive radiators in perfect shape. Wood grain, vinyl wrapped cabinets and original knit cloth grills in acceptable shape. Again these are great speakers for accuracy and detail and while not made for loud volume / "mega power" amps, but will perform great at most volume levels volume levels. These speakers also function best with little or no tone control and are best, not used with much equalization. They utilize binding post / "banana" style input posts and will ship with a pair each of banana jacks.   STEREO SPEAKERS

 Circa Late 1970's-early 1980's

SOLD 3/4/13
SHIPPING TO MARYLAND

Vintage & Large Kenwood KL-777Z stereo speakers from their last series of "Trip7's". These are likely what is referred to as 'Military' market / Euro / Asia market units as they are not listed in North American listings and they're the first we've seen in 13 years.
4-Way, 'Bass Reflex' design. These are VERY efficient speakers with above average tone balance for late '70's / early 80's speakers. Plenty of top end that can be filtered / tailored to your tastes with built-in attenuator or external EQ / tone control. Also HUGE & DEEP low end, likely due to the "Bass Reflex" cabinet design. They also seem to be able to handle "power" better than your average speaker. Not simply referring to their wattage rating, but just the way they perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. Among the top performers of the many speakers we have auditioned over the years. Unfortunately these have 'lost' their grills along the way and do have considerable 'battle scars', along the edges, (mostly the upper) edges on each of the cabinets, the worst of which is shown in the photos above. The woofer cones also have typical 'yellowing' from age, that does not affect performance.
All drivers were tested with AF generator sweep, PN 20-20k and our standard, 'abusive' test recordings
. Attenuators removed and cleaned. These speakers are ready to go!
  Features:

- 14" Non-deteriorating Cloth surround Woofer
- 5" Non-deteriorating, paper surround Midrange
- 2" x 3.75" Horn Tweeter
- 2" Cone 'Super-Tweeter'
- "Real" internal cross-over, not just a couple of "caps" on the mids and tweets

- 3-position Hi frequency attenuators, using resistors, not failure prone Ni-Chrome wire, for custom tailoring sound to your tastes and listening room

- Dual 2.25", Tuned Ports for increasing low end depth & efficiency

  Specs are as follows:

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

Speaker System: 4-Way
 Cabinet type design:
Bass Reflex / Ported design

Frequency Response: ~25-20,000Hz

Efficiency:
~97dB! 1w @ 1m

Nominal Impedance:
8Ω each

Max rated power capabilities:
100 watts continuous / 200 watts max recommended

Again, these speakers are missing their grills and do have a few cosmetic 'issues', but more than make up for that in performance. Features a true / 'Real' 4-way cross-over for super clean response especially in the "low end". We removed all drivers, checked crossover for component & mounting integrity, cleaned the attenuator contacts and reassembled all.
We completely tested them with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-20,000 Hz and feeding them with the output from our Hafler P-225 Pro Power Amp. Then further auditioned with a myriad of our difficult to reproduce 'test' CD's. All drivers are in fine condition, work and sound fine! Speakers have an accurate and HUGE sound. If you're looking for a great performing speaker at medium to higher volume applications, and don't mind the 'battle scars', you will not be disappointed with these speakers. Each measures 27.25" tall x 16.5" wide x 9.5" deep and weighs 35 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty ( & excluding problems due to under / over powering)

These speakers were destined to the 'parts' stack, until during testing for 'parts', I heard them myself. They are actually decent performing speakers. Yes, they're missing their grills, have a few 'battle scars' and due to some later, 'main-stream' construction methods, should not sound that great, but THEY DO! Once cleaned up, and tested, when connected to our test system, they really surprised us. Great, balanced sound, nice punchy bottom end.  Very efficient and bright where they need to be. Great speaker where achieving mid to higher volumes are desired, but still need efficiency. Would make a great Game Room, 'Man-Cave' or Garage speaker. Frankly, if you don't mind the 'no-grill' thing, they are simply very good sounding stereo speakers (they actually still have their grills, but some of the locating pins are missing and the cloth is pretty rough, and not worth the resources for us to re-cover).

We have completely tested them with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator.

 Features include:

- 3-Way, Bass Reflex cabinet design
 - 12"
Woofer with Non-deteriorating coated cloth surrounds
 - 5"
Cone midrange
 - 1" 360
° Radial, all aluminum 'Bullet' horn, with diffusion lens made by Foster
- Midrange / Treble attenuators for tailoring top-end
- Tweeter protection circuit breaker w/ 'Reset'

Specs:

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

Frequency Response: 45-30,000Hz
Efficiency: 94dB 1w @ 1m
Nominal Impedance: 8Ω each

Cross-over frequencies: @ 1.5kHz & 6kHz

Recommended Power amplifier rating minimum / maximum: 20 / 90watts

Again, these have a few 'battle scars', some 'spatter' staining on the white woofer cones, and the grills are rough, but sonically they're fairly impressive. Again, we have completely tested these w/ AF sweep, PN 20-20k and our standard barrage of test recordings on our studio, Hafler test power amp. Capable of BIG volume, very 'Pounding' low end, and appropriate mid to upper end. Great "all around" sound and get very loud! Also, at 94 dB, they're very efficient. These speakers actually had an original MSRP of $700.00. Each measures 28" high x 16" wide x 12.25" deep and weighs 41 lbs each.  Includes our standard 90 day limited speaker warranty ( & excluding problems due to under / over powering).

Fisher TR-3000 Audio Timer. These were originally designed for setting your system to record scheduled FM radio shows and Album rock. They also can be used to turn your system into a Super-Hi-Fi Alarm clock radio and / or just as the ultimate and really cool digital clock.
Features:
- 24 Hour 'Military' Time (as we are located in Colorado Springs, this unit was likely brought back by a GI)
- 'Sleep Timer' function from 1:59-1 minutes
- 4 'Switched' AC outlets
- 'Auto-Dimming' senses room light level and raises readout
- Rear located, variable 'Brightness' control for the readout

 -  Semi
"WORLD AC POWER"™  50 / 60 cycles, but will need a transformer / converter for 'non-North American' AC voltages / use.

This is from a collection of these that took us a long time to amass. Many of these will erratically change / advance the time after they've been on for 1 or 2 hours. This is one of the few out of the many we get that keeps time perfectly and was checked over a 1 week period. Entire unit was disassembled and cleaned inside and out, including the internal switches. All functions test perfectly. Aqua Blue Fluorescent digital readout and black face plate. Use it to turn on most anything with a latched or mechanical power switch. Will switch up to 500 watts via 4, rear located AC outlets. Unit looks near new and works great! Clock memory is volatile at power outages. Measures 17.25" wide x 5.25" deep and 1.75" high and weighs 4 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty.

It would be almost unheard of to find a Pioneer PL-514 turntable that did not have the natural rubber feet deteriorated and this one is no example, so that is why we are including a set of fresh, 2", 50 Duro, Sorbothane® hemispheres to isolate it from it's environment (it is generally accepted that Sorbothane simulates vibration isolation properties similar to water). Super quality at a great mid-price range. Looks great! Very handsome cosmetics.
Features:

- Belt Drive
- Semi-Automatic operation (Auto Return / Shut-Off)
- Heavy 2.5 lb aluminum platter / heavy rubber mat assembly for reduced low frequency resonance and speed stability
- Classic "S" tone arm
- Standard 1/2" mount quick disconnect head shell

- 33 1/3 and 45 RPM speeds with separate strobe controls for each speed
- 500,000 silicone Oil damped tone arm cuing
- Adjustable Tracking force
- Adjustable Anti-Skating

Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit cleaning inside and out, cleaning and re-lubricating mechanism, adjusting tone arm height, lead OUT and 'auto return' mechanism and testing performance. Internal speed pots, adjusted for centering and speed checked and verified for accuracy with our factory test strobe disc against built-in strobe monitor. External / 'user' adjustable platter speed potentiometers cleaned for smooth speed transition and 'glitch-free' adjustment. Gimbal bearing, counter weight and anti-skating all adjusted and verified for accuracy. 'Auto' mechanism adjusted and tested. All functions work great! While the original dust cover does have a repaired crack, it just had fresh buff and looks acceptable. Dust cover hinges are sufficient and hold cover in it's 'upright' position. Original rubber mat, still supple and flexible with no hardening. Original deteriorated feet replaced. We also re-installed and adjusted the existing, Akai PC-100, elliptically cut Diamond, magnetic cartridge and optimized the tone arm for it. VINTAGE TECHNICS LINEAR TRACKING TURNTABLE RESTORED / REFURBISHED

MODEL SL-5

 #...H026
 LINEAR TRACKING
  FULLY-AUTOMATIC
  MADE IN JAPAN
  Circa 1982-83

SOLD 10/1/12

SHIPPED TO PENNSYLVANIA

We have just had the table completely gone through cleaning inside and out, lubricating mechanism, adjusting tone arm and testing performance. A new arm drive belt installed to replace the hardened / stiff one. All the old, coagulated silicon lube on the tone-arm mechanism removed and new silicon applied. Both of these operations are a must on these linear tables.
Internal speed centering pots adjusted. Speed checked and verified for accuracy with factory test strobe disc. Original rubber mat, still supple and flexible with no hardening. Our turntable technician also gave the clear, plexi-glass top a '3-step' buff and it looks great!

(A plus with these Technics linear tables over some others is they are not prone to the internal plastic assemblies shrinking and cracking like MANY of the other brand linear tables. Trust us, we've been into most of them internally). We also inspected and re-installed the original Technics P28, diamond stylus, magnetic cartridge.  (If you prefer an up-grade you may also choose from our selection of new Audio Technica cartridges that we can also set up and ship with it for the additional cartridge cost.) You can readily connect this table to any receiver, Integrated amplifier with a standard magnetic phono input, or a Pre-amp. To connect to computer for burning CD's just order one of our inexpensive Phono Pre-Amps and cable kits. Again, this table looks and works great! Only the slightest scuffing on the top (see photos above).

Technics' Fully Automatic - Linear tracking turntable. These are great turntables for overall quality and convenience. Technics' Linear tables by nature are great if you have cats or children or or someone who might be clumsy around a normal turntable and just don't want to worry about things, as they must be closed to operate and when the cover is lifted the fragile parts (ie the tone arm and cartridge) go up with the lid. Very dust free, due to lid / cover design and almost impossible to damage your records with! I sold these when new and currently use a similar version as one of my personal tables. I sold these when they were new and everyone loved them!!! Very small "footprint". Hardly larger than an LP jacket. From 1983 "Hi-Fi Choice" Magazine,
"The wow and flutter of the Technics SL-5 was very low and the speeds accurate despite the absence of quartz lock. Shock was fairly well handled which is normal for a linear tracker, and it also behaved well on the feedback test. Well constructed and adjusted, the lid mounted tonearm possessed very good geometry and a low effective mass of around 3g"
  Features include:

- Linear Tracking accuracy / operation
  - Fully Automatic operation
  - Super quiet, Direct Drive
 - Quartz Lock speed control
  - Repeat play function
  - Front panel electronic cuing
  - Both 33 and 45 RPM speeds
  - Auto record sensing to prevent damage to stylus from starting without a record in place and for sensing size
 - 'P-Mount' style, magnetic cartridge
  - Built-in 45 RPM adaptor!

TABLE SPECIFICATIONS:

  Motor and Turntable Drive System:
Ultra-Low speed, Brushless DC / Direct drive
  Platter:
300mm Die-cast, Aluminum alloy
  Speeds:
33 1/3 and 45 rpm

Speed accuracy: Quartz Locked to 99.998%
  Tone arm Type:

Effective Arm Length: 10.5cm / 4.125"
 Wow & Flutter:

 Rumble:

DIN 45-539B
Cartridge type: Stereo / Magnetic, P-Mount
 Max Tracking Error: ± 0.1° / in.

This is the same turntable I have connected to my Home Theater / Surround Sound system and have had for years. Great for when I want to just "spin" some vinyl and am not "critically listening". Again, this table has been completely gone through. It's ready to go! You will not be disappointed in this table for all around use. Comes with a copy of the owners manual. Measures 12.5" wide x 12.5" deep x 3.5" tall (closed) and weighs 9 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty.

 VINTAGE STEREO SPEAKERS
JBL L80S

 #... 1299 / 1387

 Circa mid 1985-89
'Military Version' of JBL L80T
MADE IN USA

SOLD 1/23/13
SHIPPED TO ILLINOIS

JBL L80S, 3-way, 10" home audio speaker. Just a great 'all-around' speaker for home audio listening or recording ‘studio monitor’ use. Just as happy with a medium-small size amp as they are with amps of larger size.
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. We have completely tested all drivers, then re-assembled with ‘added’ gasketing material under all driver frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies, and tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz.
Cabinets cleaned and in great shape. Grills including grill frames and cloth in great condition as well with only very minor wear. One grill had 3 locating pins replaced with Velcro attachment.

  JBL L80S FEATURES
:

 - 3-Way, Bass Reflex cabinet design
 - 10" Die-Cast-aluminum framed, "Ribbed", cone woofer, 'Aquaplas' laminate (an ‘anti-resonance’ material to reduce radial ‘eddy currents)
- 5" High Polymer Laminate Midrange Die-Cast-aluminum framed, w/ 5/8” copper wound VC & Non-deteriorating, coated-cloth surround Cone-Tweeter
- 1" JBL 035TIA Titanium Dome Tweeter,
- Very well designed and built, "Real" internal 3-Way cross-over
- 3" tuned port for extending bass response
- Speaker input connectors are heavy duty, 3-Way, 24K gold binding posts

 JBL L80S / L80T Specifications:

 Frequency Response: 40-27k +/- 6dB
 Efficiency: ~90 dB 1w @ 1m
 Nominal Impedance: 8Ω each
 Cross-over frequencies: @ 800 & 4.5kHz
Recommended Power Amp Rating: 300 watts

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

Again, we have completely tested all drivers at individually applicable frequencies with a sweep generator looking for any irregular anomalies in either the drivers or cabinet structure integrity.
For a 'tower' style speaker, these guys get LOUD! These have most everything we look for in a home audio speaker such as 'balance', detail, power handling, accuracy, punch and 'largeness of sound'. Bass response was 'deeper' than about 70% of the speakers we audition, based on the ability to reproduce one of our very difficult 'test cuts'. They are able to handle "power" better MUCH than your average speaker. Not simply referring to they're wattage rating, but just the way the perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them HARD with our test Hafler power amp.
Also, again, these look great having the above mentioned work and are ready to go!
Each measures 32" h x 12.75" w x 12" d and weighs 44 lbs unpacked. Includes our 90 day warranty (excluding problems due to under / over powering)

Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.
- Everything was cleaned inside and out including all switches, controls and contacts. Extensive cleaning of unit internally.
- Internal and external fuses checked for correct value / function and replaced where necessary.
- All output transistors removed and individually tested.
- Left channel output transistors replaced with fresh heat sink compound applied to all output devices of course.
 - 'Stuck' Power switch was repaired for proper operation.

- Amplifier section had output bias and DC offset adjusted to spec levels.

- All dial, meter, and indicator lamps were replaced.
-
We also aligned the tuner front-end on both AM & FM bands for optimum performance as older tuner components will have 'drifted' over the years. (Receiver requires external FM and AM antenna connections.)
- Peeling vinyl veneer replaced. Only cosmetic issues with this unit are some black marks on the right side / end of the unit and some minor wear on the top bonnet and minor scuffs to aluminum face / knobs.
- Following above procedures, all functions tested for perfect operation and unit was cosmetically detailed inside and out.
All inputs tested and both sides produce clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! All functions tested for perfect operation.

Tuner string re-tensioned and flywheel string 'grip' improved. Amplifier section had output bias and DC offset adjusted to spec levels. Entire unit cleaned / detailed cosmetically inside and out, including a fresh coat of lemon oil rubbed into the Real Walnut wood veneer cabinet, while chassis was removed. All inputs tested and both side produces clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! All functions test fine. Following restoration procedures, the unit was run continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with ""Loudness"" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours.

While this unit was originally rated at 55 wpc, on our test bench, both this unit's amplifiers, #...1843 produced peak power of 17 volts per channel @ 8 ohms for 36 watts and 14.7 volts @ 4 ohms for 54 watts per channel via discrete, TO-3, metal cased outputs with 1 kHz input. (4x Sanken 2SC1111, (same as Toshiba 2SC793)). DC offset adjusted to and measured at 2.6mVDC L&R. Idle current draw within spec. Floor noise measured at 6mVAC w/ AUX shunted.

VINTAGE SANSUI STEREO RECEIVER
SANSUI 8080 RECEIVER
 #...1680
 CIRCA 1977-79

 MIJ

SOLD 1/7/13
SHIPPING TO MICHIGAN

Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit. Everything was cleaned inside and out including all switches (actually accessed (requires 'splitting' the unit horizontally) and fully flooded), controls and contacts for quiet, positive operation.
Extra attention is ALWAYS necessary on Sansui 8080 / 9090 units to the 'Input Selector'
and 'Dolby / Tape-Monitor' switches, and they were completely disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, burnished, had contacts 're-sprung' and tested (only about half the 990's, 8080's and 9090's have input selector switches that will respond to cleaning only). On this unit, he actually bypassed the wafer portion that routes the dial light current, and direct wired the lights to be lit constantly
(the issue with the dial lights on Sansui 880 / 8080-DB / 990 / 9090-DB series receivers is that the contacts were, by design, too anemic to handle the 1 Amp+ current they require).  He also re-flowed all dial lamp solder joints, especially at the 'extremes' of the board. Now dial lamps light solidly and inputs sonically intact. DC measurements taken 'post-preamp', 'post driver board' and 'post power amp'. 'Sansui 2624-Driver-Board 'removed, inspected / tested component by component & contacts burnished. Once reseated, DC measurements re-taken. Once driver board was tested, then the tech moved to address the output transistors. All output transistors removed and individually tested. Fresh heat sink compound used of course. Green 'LED' Power indicator's 'current limiting' circuit components replaced as necessary. We also aligned the tuner front-end for optimum AM & FM performance as older internal tuner components have always drifted on vintage gear over the years. VERY GOOD TUNER! Generally AM reception in a stereo receiver is treated as an 'after thought', but the AM reception on this 8080, #...1680 is WAY above average. VERY GOOD TUNER! FM reception as well great and IMPECCABLY CLEAN!!! All dial, all meter (including the very difficult to replace power meter lamps  ), all function indicator and stereo indicator lamps replaced with new units for trouble-free service. Dial light solder contacts re-flowed. Also we 'painstakingly' replaced the 'dial pointer' lamp. The dial string was cleaned and re-tensioned. Once unit's electronics were addressed, the unit was cosmetically detailed inside and out. The extruded aluminum face great shape after detailing. The knobs are intact, but do have numerous 'flea bits' and minor scuffs on them. Internal and external dial screen and window in perfect shape. We removed the dial window and re-finished the black mask behind it. The lower wood strip that would normally be on the bottom of the face plate is missing. All inputs tested, including phono input, and both amplifiers produces clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! All functions test fine. The Walnut wood grain, vinyl wrapped in good condition with minor wear. Following restoration procedures, the unit was operated continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with ""Loudness"" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 72 hours.

On our test bench, this particular Sansui 8080, #...1680, amplifiers each produced 27.8 volts per channel for 96 watts per channel @ 8 Ω via discrete output & 23 volts per channel for 132 watts per channel @ 4 Ω via discrete, Metal cased, original TO-3 outputs (Sanken 4x  2SC1116 output transistors).
(AC draw at idle 280mA tested,
DC offset adjusted to <0.5mV each side.)

Here's the second Sansui 8080 we've had, that's made it all the way through our restoration with no 'terminal' issues, since 2003! These receivers are known for great AM/FM tuners, and amplifiers that you can "darn near weld with".
The tuner quality on both AM & FM is exceptional due to aspects such as a fully shielded tuning capacitor . The amps are incredibly warm sounding with HUGE punch and headroom. Very "Musical" sounding with real output transistors and huge power supplies.  A testament to the strength of the power supply is that the results we achieved on the test bench.
The difference in tone of an 8080, with a 'clean bill of health', and most other receivers is astronomical. Sort of like the difference between driving a 130hp car and a 400hp car or a 350cc bike and and 1100cc Harley. It's a difference that must be experienced to be appreciated.
  Features include:

-Weighted flywheel analog, 'slide rule' dial tuning
 - HUGE internal Power Supply
 - Real Metal Cased, TO-3 output transistors for lot's of punch and tone!!!!
-Huge, EXTERNALLY LOCATED, 'Vertical' heat sinks for the most efficient passive cooling (all units should follow this example. Keeps the heat outside the unit, where it belongs)

ü  Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü  Everything was cleaned inside and out including all contacts, switches, controls and I/O jacks.

ü  Control Pot shafts re-sprung. Internal and external fuses checked and replaced where necessary.

ü  Bad driver board capacitors and transistors replaced.

ü  Slightly leaky TO-3 output transistor replaced with an exact and original transistor we had in our 'private stash'.

ü  We also extensively aligned the tuner front-end, as well as the 'MPX' circuit for optimum AM & FM performance as older internal tuner components have always drifted on vintage gear over the years. Generally AM reception in a stereo receiver is treated as an 'after thought', but the AM reception on this Rotel RX-803, #...7457 is pretty decent. Great sounding FM tuner on this receiver. Very clean, punchy and musical following alignment.

ü  All dial and meter bulbs replaced.

ü  DC offset and driver board / output bias current set to correct values.

ü  All inputs and functions tested, and both amplifiers produces clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! All functions test fine.

ü  Unit has been thoroughly detailed inside and out.

ü  Following restoration procedures, the unit was run continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with "Loudness" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 72 hours.
Only cosmetic issues are a bit of minor wear to the face, including a small blem to the silver plating (see above photos).

On our test bench, each internal amplifier of this Rotel RX-803, #...7457 produced peak power of 25 volts per channel for 78 watts per channel @ 8 ohms and 21.6 volts @ 4 ohms for 116 watts per channel via discrete, TO-3, metal cased output devices (4x Sanken 2SC1116). Idle current measured at 260mA. Bias current & DC offset / output adjusted to levels within spec. Floor noise measured at 0.3mVAC.

VERY PUNCHY and 'Musical' sounding, Rotel RX-803 Stereo Receiver. I have a 'soft spot' for Rotel receivers of this time period. I sold them when new, and always liked most of their mid to upper-end models (one of my main personal receivers is a Rotel from this same period). This is a very punchy and full sounding receiver. Very 'musical' sounding. Doesn't fall apart with larger speakers utilizing 15 inch drivers. Well designed amplifiers feature, EXTERNALLY located, vertical heat sinks that keep the heat producing transistors outside of the receiver housing where it belongs. All units should utilize this design.

   Rotel RX-803 Features include:

§  Weighted flywheel analog, 'slide rule' dial tuning

§  A, B and A+B speaker selector

§  Separate L & R Bass & Treble with high quality detented controls

Again, as stated before, we have completely gone through this Rotel, RX-803, Stereo Receiver cleaning and testing all and it gets our full 'Certification' . All functions test fine. This is one of the best 'thumping' amplifiers we've had on our 'burn-in' bench in a while. We have a 3000 sq foot warehouse, and it fills it to an 'uncomfortably high' volume level. This receiver, works and sounds great! Includes a pdf 'e' copy of the Rotel RX-803 owners manual. Unit measures 19.5" wide x 6" tall x 17" deep and weighs 32 lbs unpacked. Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.
- This receiver has had complete service including all switches, contacts, and controls cleaned for static free performance.
- Entire unit completely cleaned inside and out.

- All dial, meter, indicator, 'Power', 'FM' and 'Stereo' lamps replaced with new unit for trouble-free service.
- Dial lamps “aqua” tinted for factory new appearance.  All other indicator lamps replaced.
- Power cord replaced with polarized plug for quiet operation.

- Power transformer secondary's checked for correct output voltage

- Power Supply, Rectifier and Protection circuits all “reflowed” for improved reliability. ('original' capacitors on the power supply / rectifier board are common issue on the SX-750 for some reason. We don't see it so much on other models. No issues once corrected with fresh caps)

- Power Supply filter electrolytic capacitors replaced with new, ‘audio grade’ caps, as well as protection and regulator capacitors.

- We also aligned the tuner front-end for optimum performance as older tuner components have drifted over the years.
VERY GOOD TUNER! FM reception incredible and IMPECCABLY CLEAN!!!
-
All inputs and outputs tested and both sides produce clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads at full power! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! All functions test fine.
Wood grained vinyl case also in decent shape with a few 'battle scars', but nothing too distracting (see photos).
Following restoration procedures, the unit was run continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with "Loudness" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours. All functions test perfectly.

The Pioneer SX-750 was originally rated for 50 watts, but both internal power amplifiers on this unit, #...119S  produced 22 volts at 8 ohms per channel for 64 watts / channel and 18 volts at 4 ohms per channel for 84 watts / channel via discrete, metal cased, TO-3 output devices (2SB541 x 2, 2SD388 x 2) at 1khz. Bias set to 30 mV for each channel after 15 min warm-up.
AC idle draw 0.2A @ 117VAC. Floor noise measured @ <0.3mVAC.

The famous and well-built Pioneer SX-750. ü  Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

ü  Everything was cleaned inside and out including all contacts, switches and controls.

ü  We also aligned the tuner for optimum AM & FM performance as older internal tuner components have always drifted on vintage gear over the years. VERY GOOD TUNER! AM reception WAY above average, FM reception incredible, PUNCHY and IMPECCABLY CLEAN!!! due to the triple FET FM front end and the quality of the restoration.

ü  All meter, dial, function indicator and FM stereo indicator lamps replaced for trouble-free service (very difficult to do on this series of receiver and there's a total of 12).

ü  All 4 power transistors removed, tested for leakage and reinstalled with fresh heat-sink compound.

ü  DC offset checked (although as it’s a ‘cap couple’ amp, there better not be any DC) and bias current adjusted to correct levels.

ü  Two stuck dual section controls were replaced and shafts lubed.

ü  Damaged illuminated dial indicator was replaced.

ü  Entire unit cleaned / detailed cosmetically inside and out. Only cosmetic issues with this unit are some scuffing of the wood cabinet and very minor wear on the face.

ü  All inputs tested and both sides produce clean and even sine waves into static 8 & 4 ohm loads! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! All functions test fine.

ü  Following restoration procedures, the unit was run continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifiers / receivers are, into a load with ""Loudness"" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours.

On our test bench, each internal amplifier of this particular unit, #...3882, produced peak power of 22 volts @ 8Ω per channel for 60 watts / channel and 19 volts @ 4Ω per channel for 93 watts / channel via Discrete output devices at 1khz. (4X Toshiba metal case TO-3 2SC1079). AC Idle current at .220A, & floor noise <1.4 mVAC.

This is from what many consider to be one of Sansui's best eras. The Sansui 5000X stereo receiver. The "X" suffix designates upgraded f-6013 driver boards that are sought after by owners of "non-X" units as an aftermarket upgrade. We have had quite a few 'X000' series Sansui units and they are among some of the best sounding, 'vintage', 'main stream' amplifiers we have heard.  Lot's of headroom and punch! Similar in sound to many of the NAD amplifiers / receivers we sold back in the 80's. This one also is installed in the optional, REAL walnut wood veneer case.

   Sansui 5000X Features include:

- Weighted flywheel, 'slide rule' style analog tuning
  - Dual Tuning Capacitors. One for FM and one for AM. Allows for incredibly 'quiet' tuning performance
  - A, B, C, Off, A+B or A+C speaker positions
  - Hi filter for reducing tape hiss / electronic hiss & noise and record static
- Low filter to eliminate excess rumble from sources such as turntables
 - Pre-Amp Out / Power-Amp In Loop (unique to the "X" version)
  - Aux (may also be used for Video / CD / DVD / VCR / DAT / MP3 / iPod® / iPad® / iPhone® / iTouch® / iGadget / MP3 / XM® / SIRUS® etc.) input
  - Dual tape monitors with Tape 1 featuring both RCA and DIN I/O's.
(Tape Monitors can be used with Tape decks such as Cassette Tape Recorders/ Players, Reel to Reel's, 8-Track Tape Cartridge Decks, Video / CD / DVD / VCR / DAT / MP3 / iPod® / iPad® / iPhone® / iTouch® / iGadget / MP3 / XM® / SIRUS® CDR (CD recorders as well as for inserting signal processors, such as EQ's, Reverbs, Spatial Enhancers / Dynamic Processors, Noise Reduction units, Special Effects units, Time Delays, etc)  - Dual Phono / Turntable inputs
 - "Loudness" function to boost Bass and Treble in relationship to Mid frequencies at lower volume levels for a much fuller sound.
  - FM Stereo / Mono selector separate from the FM Muting selector
 - Stereo / Mono selector for Pre-Amp separate from the FM tuner selector
  - Stereo Reverse selector (great for trouble-shooting speakers)
  - FM Muting separate from the Stereo / Mono selector (this is commonly ‘combined’ on many units)
  - Rear located MPX Separation & Level adjustments
   - Front mounted 1/4" stereo headphone jack
   - Front mounted 1/4" Microphone Input jack and 1/4" Playback Jack (Tape 2)
  - Tuning window features dual VU meters for tuning and signal strength
 - Rear located speaker and main power protection fuses
 - Externally located, vertical heat sinks for very efficient cooling and long life  - Dual AC convenience outlets on rear panel with 1 switched and 1 un-switched
  - Triple Pair Speaker Selector: A, B, or C or A+B or A+ C or Off speaker selector (two pair at a time)
  - Tuning window features dual meters for 'Tuning' & station 'Signal Strength'
 - Rear located speaker and main power protection fuses
 - EXTERNALLY located, Vertically finned heat sinks for very efficient cooling and long life. External heat sinks keep the heat producing transistors outside of the receiver housing where they belong. All units should utilize this design.
- Built-In Ferrite 'Stick' AM antenna
  - Dual AC convenience outlets on rear panel with 1 switched and 1 un-switched

  - True "WORLD AC POWER"™ allows unit to be operated on 50 or 60 Hz AC and will select voltages from 110v, 120v, 220v and 240 volts AC input.

We have completely gone through this unit restoring it for 'Play Back' only use. Entire internal transport mechanism disassembled, cleaned of old grease, re-lubed and reassembled. Rubber pinch roller has been reconditioned. New main drive belt and counter belt installed. Capstan cleaned and burnished. All heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport. Flywheel thrust bracket removed, bearing surface cleaned and re-lubed, then reinstalled and adjusted. All internal pots and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function. Both playback level and meter level internal pots adjusted using factory service manual and test tones. Both spindles in perfect alignment and reel locks work perfectly with no missing fins. Brake pads reconditioned on both sides and are in good shape. Heads cleaned and are in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them and head alignment / azimuth has been checked with factory 'STL' test tapes and an O-Scope for peak performance.
Head alignment done w/ factory test tones @ 10k & 15kHz. Heads and entire transport electronically de-mag'd.
Play 'cam dogs' have ZERO deterioration and are LIKE NEW. This is a 'must inspect' item on Akai, '2-lever transport' decks!!!

Plays very well. We tested with a myriad of tapes once restoration was complete. This is a great sounding Play Back tape deck.
Speed checked to 99% accuracy! Cosmetically the deck looks great. Just over 14 hours invested in this decks refurb. Again, for 'Playback' use, it's READY TO GO!

Great cosmetic condition & Ready-to-go for tape Playback, Akai 4000DS-MKII.

Yes, we know, EVERYTHING (at least all the receivers) are SOLD OUT
currently.
We will be posting more in the future.
We are currently focusing resources on expanding our receiver 'Parts Department' AND 'refurbished' stereo receivers sell faster than we can get them refurbished, and it's a slow process getting them ready.
